Has anyone ever used human antidepressants on their horse..?? There are many studies out right now, saying that this practise is becoming very useful in helping to treat horses that have been abused or have trauma or stress...I would like to hear if anyone has heard of this or if anyone has tried this and what the outcome was.

Thanks.

Hello Dyanna,
Other than the use of imipramine for narcolepsy and ejaculatory dysfunction, there are not any such studies in the veterinary or scientific literature, on the use of human antidepressants in horses that I am aware of. Expense is probably one reason. You do hear occasional stories about their use for various behavorial problems but they all seem second hand to me. Is there a particular condition or drug you want to discuss?
