Any new information about dependency on supplements with glucosamine. Has anyone determined if they have a long term effect of slowing down your bodies own production? This was mentioned in several other threads in the past year. I've been considering trying one of the flex products for my 9 year old gelding. He vets out ok with no problems but has some joint clicking (I did read that this is not indicative of any problems). His stifles seem to be fine. He just seems to be slightly off when he's first ridden. He does have a go forward problem and some people would brand him as stubborn or lazy at home. But he plays hard when turned out, and also has a much bigger motor when in the show ring. I keep trying to figure out if the go forward issue is an indicator that something is bothering him. I was thinking of trying 2 - 3 months of glucosamine / chonDrOtin supplementation to see if it produced any improvement (thanks Dr. O, I did read the updated article). However I want to be able to discontinue the product without any side affects if there's no improvement.

Hello SK, No we don't think such a thing occurs but it really has not been studied. DrO

Thanks all. I'll give it a try and see what happens. I guess the real danger on this one is to my pocket book!
