I want to know the signs and symptoms of over-medicating a horse. i recently put down a horse and it is to my suspicion that this horse may have been given more then he could handle. Is that some lab work that could confirm that this could be the cause of death.

Hello Maria,
The clinical signs of toxicity depends entirely on the medication used and sometimes also the amount, frequency, and route. Can you provide us with more information?

My horse was given two rhompin and 1 torp. At the clinic the vet examined my horse and then put him through a bunch of test - rectal, palpation, urine, blood. The vet then told me to take him home - less then an hour and half later he was in sooooo much pain and the vets decided to put him down and not even wait for me to get there.

The drugs would not have caused increased pain Maria, it sounds like the horse had a severe episode of colic. Symptoms of overdosage would have been most likely fainting.
