Just read some older posts about Equimax. So, is it safe? Our state (Colorado) does not have a high incidence of tapeworms - and I haven't noticed any obvious signs of them in my mules and burros, but would it hurt to use it? Are mules and horses pretty much the same when it comes to deworming? Also saw an ad for a dewormer that is in liquid form and can be put on grain so that it doesn't get spit out. Anyone know about this or have experience with it? My mules are AWFUL about deworming and I swear more of it ends up on me than in them.

Thanks!

Hey, Jane.
If I have a really difficult horse to worm, I put the bridle on him first and slide the wormer syringe in on top of the bit. Works really well.

Hello Jane,
Equimax is a combination of ivermectin and praziquantel. We discuss the safety of this combination and other dewormers along with our recommendations at Care for Horses » Deworming and Parasite Control » Overview of Deworming. Look under the praziquantel heading in the article.
