I have heard that using the generic equivalent of Adequan is not as effective as the branded Adequan. Is this true? Are there any studies to support branded Adequan over compounding pharmacy versions? Thank you for any information you can provide.

I do not know any testing done with generic products. The big problem is that there is no standard "generic" and since many companies make a generic product, we cannot talk about them like they were one product. Many equine generics not only lack testing for efficacy but when checked don't even contain the stated ingredients. That is not to say they are no good products.

If you choose to try the generic your veterinarian should be very familiar with the company and if the results are less than satisfactory you should try the Adequan.
