I have just been told that using Doxyclycline for Navicular synDrOne has been helpful. It has some anti inflammatory properties and can reduce the chronic lameness of NS. What are the doses used and success of using Doxyclycline. How long does it work, must the horse stay on it? Any side effects?
Thanks, Pamm

Hello Pamm,
There has been talk about this but no formal studies so we have no established treatment protocols or prognostic information. We have antimicrobial treatment protocols and potential side effects at Treatments and Medications for Horses » Antibiotics and Antimicrobials » Tetracycline, Oxytetracycline, & Doxycycline. If we assume there might be a good effect I would suspect the answer to your questions will vary case by case depending on the type and severity of the lesions.
