Hi all, Wanda made me aware of this, when she was told at the feed store that they would not be getting any more dewormers containing ivermectin. Her research led her to the following link: https://www.who.int/mediacentre/multimedia/podcasts/2009/river_blindness_20090722 /en/ I am sending this out in case some folks would like to get some dewormers right now. Our hope is that in time production will increase again, so there would be enough for the people at risk for river blindness as well as for the horses. Lilo

This is all very confusing to me. Ivermectin has been used for treating people in the third world with all kinds of horrible parasitic diseases for decades so there is no sudden surge in excess need versus production that I am aware of. I would be interested in why the store will no longer be getting ivermectin products. DrO

Dr. O - I agree. I saw where they have been using Ivermectin since the 1980's, but the article on the World Health Organization website has a date of July 22, 09. Not sure what all this means, but thought I would give a head's up. I will check with some other feed stores to see if they have heard anything. I'll post here if I learn more. Lilo

Just an update: I was at my vet's office today. He heard a similar story from a client, for just one brand (Farnam, I believe). Went to a different Feed Store, and they had not heard anything at all about Ivermectin products being hard to come by. Lilo
