Dr O- I currently give my competitive trail horse a daily glucosamine/chonDrOitin supplement. He will be 9 years old in a couple of months, and to date, shows no symptoms of arthritis. He is usually ridden 30-60 miles per week... sometimes a bit more, sometimes less. My question: in your opinion, is there a benefit in giving this supplement on a preventative basis? Thanks, Mary

Mary, we have no direct evidence of such action but evidence continues to grow that these supplements have subtle but beneficial effects in cases of work induced joint pain (arthritis). I think there is a good chance it might ameliorate joint damage from hard work. DrO
