DrO, I've been researching joint supplements and was wondering if there have been any new studies since you wrote the over view. It seems every few months a new product is out that claims to show the best results, and every few months the prices go up! I've read that just glucosamine is needed, CS is not helpful, CS is helpful with GL, HA not helpful orally,MSM helps with pain, etc. I also found that GL has a 60% absorbation rate in horses, and CS only 14%? Have you found any studies to back those claims? I have one mare who is getting older and creaky, and a gelding who may be getting to the age he may benefit from some sups IF they work. On week 3 of a very expensive bucket of pellets that seems to have the ratio you state in your article. Not convinced I see any difference YET. Have 3 weeks left until I run out, want to keep them on something, at the best dose with best ingredients, and lowest cost of course. Thanks!

Hello Angie, The current state of what is known about these oral nutraceuticals remains much as you put it above: results of scientific studies are often inconclusive and conflicting concerning this drugs. Note it is not the rate of absorption that is important but are therapeutic levels achieved in the joint. The article which gives a range for both glucosamine and chonDrOitin sulfate that remains the best information I can find on the subject. I have also started recommending products with ASU in them as described in the article. DrO
