Hi Dr. O, You recommend feeding human multi-vitamins to horses instead of equine ones because they are better regulated and listed quantities are more accurate. Do you also recommend feeding human Glucosamine HCL? I have found a good priced bulk product online (https://purebulk.com/d-glucosamine-hcl-shellfish) and would appreciated your thoughts. Carolyn

Carolyn, That looks like a great site! Have you ordered from them before? I can't find where they are located, do you know? I am also looking for the best prices.

Hello Carolyn, Not necessarily, vitamins are very sensitive to time and storage conditions. These products are thought to be stable. Use a human product if it less expensive. As to the company I do not know whether they are reputable or not. DrO

Hi Angie, I have never ordered from this website, so I unfortunately do not know if it is reliable or not. Sorry Carolyn

Nutramax who makes Cosequin makes human and animal supplements. It's the only joint supplement for horses researched and proven effective. Expensive, yes, but why pay for something that may not be absorbed or works? I would recommend trying Cosequin for joints, they makes several versions depending on your needs. For my 22 yr old semi retired and active 9 yr old Walkers, I use the Cosequin Optimized.

Nutramax also makes Cosequin with ASU added in a product called Dasuquin. DrO

Is the ASU specifically something you recommend? My vet prefers to Cosequin ASU as well, but it's quite a bit more costly. I use the Cosequin Optimized along with MSM (purchase seperately as it's cheaper than the Cosequin with MSM added) and an overall support supplement called Sho Glo.
