Hi All,
I am trying not to look too ignorant, but, I just bought an 18 month old Paso colt and have put him into the main pasture with, among others, my two 3 and 4 year old mares. Is he capable of getting anybody pregnant before the vet can get out here to do the Geld thing? So, far they seem more concerned about pecking order than sex. I am just not sure at what age these guys get active and notice girls. any advice is wanted thanks.

Hello Marianne,
Yes he is capable at this age. For more specific information on puberty in stallions see, Equine Reproduction: Breeding and Foaling: Breeding Patterns in Mares and Stallions.
