We recently bought a mare and have found out that she is in foal. She is due the middle of August 2003. We would prefer she not have a foal if given the choice. If you have an unwanted pregnancy in the horse are there safe ways to abort the fetus and what are these methods. Also, does aborting a pregnancy affect future pregnancies in the mare.

I failed to mention this mare has a foal at foot right now. Would administration of Lutalyse be harmful to the baby as she is still nursing? The article you suggested I visit did not discuss that.

This is not a researched possiblity but I do not know of any problem with the foal and the drug is given regularly to mares with foals by there side.
