DrO, Not sure if this is even possible to answer, but here goes. I recently bought a broodmare from NJ. Two weeks after being here and not teasing we had the vet palp her. He found a 32mm but the mare was showing no sign of coming into heat. There was no edema, didn't tease, cervix was tight etc... So my vet gave her a shot of prostin and came out and checked her 3 days later. She then had a 42 mm follicle and edema, she did break down with the teaser after about 5 minutes of squealing. So now she is off to be bred with frozen semen. I am told she is not teasing, but otherwise she is progressing normally. The follicle is softening, the edema is leaving etc.... So my question is: can a follicle that was a diestrus follicle be viable? Or is that just a ridiculous question you could not possibly answer? Thanks....it's getting late in breeding season here and we only have 1 of 4 bred. ~Barbara

I do not see any reason in your post not to breed this follicle Barbara. DrO
