Dr. Oglesby -- My mare was tested for progesterone and estrone sulfate at 78 days. The report came back as indicative of a mare in foal. This mare was a bit of a problem getting in foal. She had uterine cysts and the first time she was checked in foal, her progesterone level was .1 at 45 days and she lost the pregnancy. Second time (in mid-October) her progesterone levels were barely adequate and she has been on Regumate since being bred. The 78-day levels were: progesterone 4.9 and estrone sulfate 11.9. I know the progesterone level is adequate, but I can't find any information on whether this is a low level of ES at 78 days or whether it is normal. Any thoughts?

Levels indicative of pregnancy are in the article associated with this forum but I believe estrone sulfate is not considered reliable until after day 100. You should note that there are no levels of progesterone, as long as it is present, that have been associated with increase early embryonic loss see Equine Diseases » Reproductive Diseases » Problems Keeping Mares Pregnant » Early Embryonic Loss & Abortion.
