Discussion on Professional Help with a new Stallion
Author Message

Posted on Tuesday, Aug 22, 2000 - 11:57 am:

After a lot of deliberation, I have decided to give my very sweet and athletic stallion a chance at a career in breeding. I bought him because of his temperament, at 3 as my dressage horse and have no experience with breeding.
So - I already have 4 mare owners interested in breeding to him (they approached me - I was leaning towards a gelding) I have decided that if he throws his calm, sweet, easy to train temperament it would be worthwhile...
So, I have no business handling this myself and I would like to send him to a professional farm or trainer for the actual breeding but I don't know where I would look for something like that - is there a name for it or a group of people who manage other people's stallions?
Any guidance you can provide would be appreciated.

Jennifer, ask your veterinarian for a reliable breeders name who might want to take on such a project.
