Hi all.
I took my arab gelding out on his 3rd trail ride. First year under saddle. He's great. I know he is scared of water so I wanted him to watch the other horses go in the creek and play. He freeked out. rearing popping running backwards etc. I did not even try and get him in. How can I get him used to this without him being so scared. It took at least 5 minutes to stop him rearing etc after we left the water site. I have never had a horse so terrified of water any advice please . I want him for trails etc and water will be there sometimes help.

Hi, Katrina,
We've had several good discussions on this subject and on the subject of horses who shy on the trail. Look back over some of the old posts and I think you'll find several different techniques and shared experiences.

Thanks Holly, I did read the posts and I will try some of the suggestions. Probably backing from the ground into the water. as soon as he see water thats what he does anyway so I'll reverse it on him. I'll try this weekend .
