Hi,

Years ago, I used to use a product called (I think this was how it was spelled) "Ko-Kaolin", which came in a small tin that you had to pry the top off. The can had an old fashioned 18th century type picture on it of a horse. It was a pinkish-reddish clear jellylike substance that you would use for oiling your saddle. It was (I think) made in England, & had a slogan on the can "Will Not Rot Stitches".
That was the best stuff I have ever found to soften leather so just about after 1 application, the new stiff leather was like an old worn in saddle! & it wasn't greasy, & would soak in completely overnight.

Does anybody know if this is made anymore? Even if its not in the USA, I would buy it internationally. I have tried beeswax, 100% neatsfoot oil, mink oil, Lexol & various other things, but nothing has compared to Ko-Kaolin.

It's called Ko-Cho-Line! I knew immediately what you were talking about, but it took a few minutes for the name to float up to the top of my memory where I could grab it! I had some of that too, back in the 80's, when I used it on some farm harness I had then. Good stuff! It is still made, in England as you thought, but you can get it here too. I just did a Google search and found it for sale on line at a few places. If you aren't sure how to do that, come back here and I'll post the suppliers that I found, or email me(kimking@oro.net)

Thank you so much, the stuff is great!! I ordered 10 cans of it (my leather is thirsty & has only been drinking neatsfoot, LOL!)
