Posted on Tuesday, Feb 13, 2007 - 7:45 pm: I have not been on in a long time but still follow the emails from all. Does anyone have knowledge of the device called The CorrecTor? I really don't want to buy a new saddle as I have a Crates Trail and a Tex Tan trail. The latter I do not use on her. When I saddle she is not happy and she recently nipped at me - stopped that fast. When we do ride out I as the rider am lopsided (left)which most of my contacts say is a horse problem. Looking for solutions. thanks |

Or do you mean that it could be something in her conformation that makes the saddle (and you) sit lopsided? It's been my experience that often a rider sits lopsided without realizing it due to uneven weight in the stirrups or a physical problem. |

There has been much discussion on different saddle pads to address different issues and if you use the search section of this site for "saddle pad" or Corrector pad" I am pretty sure you will find what you are looking for.I do know that weight distribution and balance in a horse is strongly influenced by rider weight distribution and balance. Is the horse off-balance when you do ground work? Evaluating the horse going through its paces in ground work will probably be most helpful. |

Posted on Wednesday, Feb 14, 2007 - 10:50 pm: hi, thanks all. I found the CorrecTor web site and even talked to this guy who makes this apparatus. He states my existing saddles are fine just need to use this tool or shim up the areas she is unhappy with. 1200#'s of unhappy Arab. I've been riding my entire life (first Arab)so understand that horses while my pet, they are not babied. I believe I ride centered, but maybe my saddle is not. Ive tried middle and back and when I remove the saddle her back is sweaty but the mid-line is dry. I've used 2 pads, one pad and a felt pad and a plain blanket. She's off on her gaits. On the ground she walks, trots, lopes. Under saddle she is a fast walker and looks around - alot but very choppy. She is still green but I'm trying to get her out every w/e (I work). She is skiddish but curious so I make her face the evil Avocado, H2O, etc. She loves her buddy so goes without problems. Again, her ground manners are good but under saddle she tends to forget them. I spend alot of time moving her feet and flexing. I've tested her 4 beat trot but when I'm on her she is rough. I'll get back to all as this w/e we are going to take a zillion measurements for saddle fit. Thanks all |
