I'm thrilled to share an economical tack tip about english tall boots(for the humans to wear!) I returned to the show arena this past month and had to have dress or field boots. I had ridden for the past several years in half chaps. A friend found some imitation leather boots by Miller Harness company, and once I tried hers, I bought a pair with a big smile. They are the Saxon Equileather Zip Back Field Boot, item # X4-38585 at Miller Harness 1 800 784-5831. They were @$70.00. I got them the day before the show and rode in them all last weekend. They are soft, supple, and indistinguishable from real leather. There was no break-in time! I waited to rave on them until I had some more hours in them, and I continue to be really happy. I doubt I will ever buy another pair of semi-custom leathers, as I could have two more pair of the Saxons for the same price. I used to be such a purist - now I am a dedicated shopper for quality bargains!

thanks for the tip... a few questions.. do you have fat / skinny thighs? small / large feet? long or short or average leg length?... and are they hotter then leather.. ??? On the first day God created horses, on the second day he painted them with spots..

Hi Ann, I wear a 38 Dansko clog and have 15 3/4 inch calves - a remnant from my college bodybuilding days! I am 5ft 1in. I got the 8 1/2 with the XWide option and the fit is super. They could be 2 inches shorter in the leg if I was fussy, but since they are field boots, they wrinkled down a bit very quickly. I rode in them again this am and there is no difference from the temp in leather that I can tell. At the show this past weekend, I used Saddletight on the insides for the first ride as they were a bit slick. While I was riding this am, conditioning trot and canter work, I was comfortable enough to wonder how on earth I'd done without full boots for so long! Add to the above that I wiped them down with water after riding and they looked the same as when I unpacked them... Stacy
