Posted on Friday, Jul 3, 2009 - 12:33 pm: Here's the latest info on Denny Taylor's clinic coming up next month. The clinic is Saturday and Sunday, Aug. 1st and 2nd. It's $250 for the two days, and $15/day to audit. Stabling on premise is available at $12/night for a limited amount of horses. More stabling is available about 5 mi. from us at the town's arena/show grounds. There will also be a short clinic on hoof care. There will be Sub sandwiches, sodas, water, etc. available for purchase at lunch time. Free coffee, tea, juice, and doughnuts in the morning. There is a dinner planned for Sat. night after the clinic: barbeque tri-tip steak with beans, potatos, and peach cobbler all cooked in Dutch Ovens. We have several spots for campers/LI trailers with water and electric available. We have some room in the house on a first come first serve basis. There is a B & B about a mile from us: www.willowglen.com there quite a few good motels within a few miles of us; if you want recommendations, email me. There is a pool and jacuzzi available, so if you are coming, bring your bathing suit. If you fly, Las Vegas is the nearest inexpensive airport. There is shuttle service available into either Cedar City, or St. George, UT. There are also flights into Cedar City via Salt Lake City - convienent but more expensive as a rule. Clinic participants are welcome to stay a few extra days and do some trail riding or sight seeing while they are here. There are 7 Nat'l. parks/monuments within 3 hrs. of us and tons of riding. We are getting quite a bit of interest, so hope the clinic fills up. I know some of you are trying to come, so wanted to let you know the latest information. Call me or email for more information and travel directions if you need them. |

Posted on Friday, Jul 3, 2009 - 4:41 pm: Sara, I bought my ticket! I will be auditing the first day, and depending on how badly my non-horsey brother's eyes glaze over, probably the second day as well.I am looking forward, not only to seeing all of you, but sightseeing as well. It is a beautiful part of the country. Hope to hit Vegas for a day or two also. Erika |

Posted on Friday, Jul 3, 2009 - 5:43 pm: Erika, can't wait to "meet" you in person! Does your brother like motorcycles, sports cars or bicycles? If so, he can "hang" with Lonnie for entertainment. |

Posted on Friday, Jul 3, 2009 - 10:35 pm: Yippee, Jos!! (that's American for "How nice."!) I look forward to meeting the encyclopedia of warmbloods.BTW, Happy to pick up hitchhikers myself. If anyone wants to go sightseeing with my brother and me, we are on no schedule. Other than where the wind blows us. Grand tour of the southwest. Holly? Erika |

Posted on Saturday, Jul 4, 2009 - 12:53 am: Jos, I think Kathy is coming also. There is a possibility she will come early, bring Fancy and do some riding up here. If she doesn't, the two of you could ride up together. |

Posted on Saturday, Jul 4, 2009 - 9:41 am: Sara,I am trying not to pout here. I will be at WI Dells, watching daughter play basketball. (Unless it gets cancelled like every tournament we've signed up for this summer so far! I kinda hope it does, lol!) I hope this becomes an annual event at your place. It sounds like it will be such a good time. Give Denny a slug for me (Trust me, he deserves it! LOL!) and Erika a hug! And Holly, Sara M if they make it. If anyone who can't make the clinic is near the Dells that weekend, come on over, sit and cheer our girls on! Love to meet any fellow HA'er even if it's not at a DT clinic. Can't wait to hear how the clinic goes, and you all must post a bazillion pictures!!! PLEASE!!! |

Posted on Saturday, Jul 4, 2009 - 10:43 am: Erika why not include California in your tour? Sara would have loved to trailride with you and Kathy, but taking Tax without first conditioning her seems asking for troubleJos PS I am NOT an encyclopedia! How stuffy! |

Posted on Saturday, Jul 4, 2009 - 4:07 pm: Angie, I'll pout right along with you! Wish I could go too, but it's just not gonna happen this year. Sara will have to do without the "Michigan contingent" .I know it will be a huge success, Sara and can't wait to hear the stories and see the pictures. |

Posted on Wednesday, Jul 8, 2009 - 2:47 pm: Another pouter . . . Utah is just too far at this time.Angie, I am only an hour from the Dells but we are going to the EAA fly-in that weekend. You will love the Dells though; lots to do and much fun to be had. Hope your daughter kicks butt! I would really like to attend one of Denny's clinics but will have to find something closer to WI. Have fun everyone, ditto on the pics! Linda |

Posted on Friday, Jul 10, 2009 - 1:01 am: Linda, I'm jealous of your going to the EAA? Is that Oshkosh? If so, I'm really jealous!Maybe I can talk Lonnie into being even photographer. He's very good at it, when he can be convinced. |

Posted on Friday, Jul 10, 2009 - 3:06 pm: Yes, Sara, it's in Oshkosh. I live 30 miles from there. Hey c'mon out to Wisconsin anytime and we can go together. It's always the last week of July. You are welcome to stay with us. |

Posted on Monday, Jul 13, 2009 - 12:00 am: I'd love to; but not this year! My cousin and his wife are flying out for it though. It's always fun, but I haven't been in years.Good news for those of you coming to the clinic; Denny is really coming. I got an email with his flight information! |

Posted on Tuesday, Jul 21, 2009 - 11:08 am: Well, all you pouters can quit pouting and make plans for next year. I've just been talking with Denny and we have decided to postpone the clinic until next year sometime; there just aren't enougbh people willing to commit to spending the money to come with a horse. Quite a few want to come and watch and are happy to pay the money for that, but I think the economy is just so bad and uncertain right now now one wants to spend the money. A couple of friends who wanted to come have to go to a barrel race up north as they are in the top standings for the series. Two others had family deals, so we only had 2 that were going to bring horses and several I was waiting to here from. The main reason I've heard for not coming with a horse is money. I'm bummed. Hopefully, things will be better in a few more months and we can do something next spring or summer. The Dutch oven cookout, margaritas, sightseeing, pool and jacuzzi will all still be avilable, and we've room for your horse and trailer if any of you decide you just want to come and visit. |

Posted on Tuesday, Jul 21, 2009 - 1:32 pm: Oh Sara!! NOooooo....even if I couldn't be there, I was anxiously awaiting to hear how it went, and enjoy the pictures. That's too bad, but it sure is understandable. Don't get me going on money, the economy, the government, ya all know how THAT discussion will go!! HUGE HUG from us to you, and to Denny too! Guess the silver lining is we can plan for next year waaay ahead of time!! |

Posted on Tuesday, Jul 21, 2009 - 1:47 pm: Oh, Sara...what a bummer. I know how much you were looking forward to it (and how much us pouters were looking forward to hearing all about it).Sadly, I'm not surprised, though...I had to work like the dickens to fill up the clinic here last summer...money was always the issue...and things certainly haven't improved since then, that's for sure. I'm also noticing the show schedule for the local dressage association is lighter with fewer classes. Hopefully things will start to get better sooner, rather than later and you & Denny will have a kick butt success next year! |

Posted on Tuesday, Jul 21, 2009 - 5:58 pm: Darn, I was looking forward to pics and a report. I wish Utah wasn't so far away I would love to bring Hank to a Denny clinic and see your place and that new arena. |

Posted on Wednesday, Jul 22, 2009 - 3:10 pm: Diane, Maybe next year. I think we will work towards that.Erika, Jos and maybe Holly are still coming, plus a couple of friends around here are still coming. We'll manage to do something "horsy" and have some fun together. |

Posted on Wednesday, Jul 22, 2009 - 7:31 pm: Sara, so sorry the clinic did not work out. Sounds like you will have some company, however, and whenever horse people get together, there will be fun!Lilo |

Posted on Wednesday, Jul 22, 2009 - 10:40 pm: Well, I hope I am not the kiss of death to the Denny Taylor Clinics!I tried to watch him in action last year at Holly's and we got rained out, now the economy. Sorry Dennis, the next one you have, I'll just show up without announcing! Looking forward to fun with you guys though, anyway Sara. Erika |

Posted on Wednesday, Jul 22, 2009 - 10:57 pm: Ha ha Erika, now I know if I plan on going to one of DT's clinics, I just have to make sure you are not planning on going too, aye?Me thinks we'll just plan a slow trip to Sara's place, by way of Fran in Lower MI, stop and visit Denny and crew on the way, then Holly, maybe even hit both Saras! In a year or two, might be workable. You can just hop planes, loose your luggage, enjoy airport cuisine, etc.!! |

Posted on Tuesday, Aug 4, 2009 - 9:02 pm: YEAH!!! We had fun! Loved putting faces to names and getting to know all these great Nicker sisters in person.Sara and Lonnie live in the most beautiful area of awsome landscapes, and the only thing that could rival the scenery was their generous hospitality! We had lots of adventures and learned a lot. Will post more on the new thread from home. I'm still on vacation in Las vegas and typing on my cell phone. Don't forget to ask Sara about outrunning the forest fire! Erika |

Posted on Wednesday, Aug 5, 2009 - 11:27 am: I had a wonderful time! First forest fire, first hotdog, first of a lot and a lot of not first but better! It was so much fun meeting 'names', I already knew Sara and Lonnie are wonderful hosts and Cedar City is beautiful but they outdid themselves. Jos |

Posted on Sunday, Aug 16, 2009 - 2:55 pm: Thanks for the pics Sara The food looks very appetizing and making me very hungry! The "Utah group" looks like a very happy and friendly group |

Posted on Sunday, Aug 16, 2009 - 3:29 pm: Food was great; everyone brought something..I'm still eating Joanne's homegrown grapefruit - the best I've ever had. I had to have a couple of Lonnie's "bike buddies" come to keep him company; he was getting a bit over whelmed with women I think. He made the comment that they were all really nice, but all talked a lot...then he added "you do,too!" I wish you could have joined us. Any woman that can trim her own horses and face down rattle snakes and the law as a daily part of her job is a friend of mine that I'd enjoy meeting in person! |
