Anyone have any experience with a Thorowgood brand dressage saddle.
I just found one on Craigs List, and it was a really smokin' deal. Unfortunately it is far away so, I will not be able to try it on my horse till it gets here.
It is supposed to have the ability to have changeable gullets.
I am new to the dressage stuff, so I did not want to spend a bunch.
thanks

Best I can say for Thorowgood is "cheap". I bought an all-purpose once at a big horse show. Didn't fit any of my horses, even with the adjustable tree. I ended up giving it away.

I boarded with someone who had basically the same experience as Erica with the Thorowgood saddle. Didn't give it away but might as well have. I have had excellent results with Wintec for 'starter' saddles. I have decided on a Wintec Isabell Dressage for my 3-y/o Shire/paint cross until she stops growing. When (if) she stops growing, I can then decide whether I want another saddle for her. Leira is growing so fast that I'm gonna have to study the posts about changing the gullets!!

No experience with the Thorowgood, but agree with Dieliz - the Wintec Isabell dressage saddle was an excellent "starter" saddle when I switched from hunter/jumper to dressage. After a few years of heavy use, it was in such good condition I was able to re-sell to a friend.
