Posted on Tuesday, Jun 15, 2010 - 10:30 pm: Some of you might suggest I am crazy, but Levi and I and his best buddy cody + hubby are going on a camping trip in a few days. We will be riding with the same gal and horse we always go riding with. Here is the crazy part. Aside from having him at the trainers for 3 days ( a bad experience as she just griped about him, another story)we have not even ridden yet this year!!!!!! It has rained forever, mud everywhere, hopefully not too bad where we are going. My plan is to give it the old college try, and if he acts out, just plant his big old butt in the portables, and just camp!~ Any words of advice???? I really need a vacation! I hope he remembers that he loves me dearly suz |

Posted on Thursday, Jun 24, 2010 - 11:28 pm: Camping was awesome. It started out pretty scarey though. We were in East Central Minnesota, not very far from where the tornadoes did much damage in albert Lea, MNI had the horses loaded in the trailer, with the door open, sending airconditioning back to them as it was very hot and humid. We basically drank massive quantities of wine and watched the radar, wishing away the bright orange colors. It worked and we were safe. Levi should have been shod, his feet were soooo ouchy. We ran into some very large rocks, and he DrOve me up into the trees to avoid the rocks, we turned around, but not before I am afraid he sored his little soles. Lucky for me I had his old mac boots with me, and we rode the next two days in boots. He did great, very well behaved. Very tired, as we had not gotten conditioned before such a long ride. It was a great place to ride, we did not even put a dent into the available groomed trails in the area. He is still sore 4 days later. I am having my old farrier out for my other horse tomorrow, and I might have him look at him. But I think he will need time to recover now. Will post pictures as soon as i figure out how to get them off of facebook. suz and levi |
