We are pleasantly surprised at having a donkey. Recently a previous owner, of our recently purchased draught horse, asked if we would take his paddock mate (a donkey who was very lonely). I read heaps of donkey info and decided to give him a home. They greeted each other like long lost friends. I kept the rest of the herd at a distance! Most of my horses have now said hallo and did not make much of a fuss. My dominant mare who is usually very quiet and sensible is still at the furthest point. Four days and she still will not approach his paddock. Who has had similar situations. She has a 2 year old filly who usually runs with the herd. I am reluctant to bring her down until her mother has overcome this behaviour.
