Posted on Thursday, May 11, 2000 - 3:47 pm: Hi everyone. I am a UK rider thinking about getting a western saddle. I would like a synthetic one and have been quoted a price of £385 for a 16inch abetta saddle. Can anyone tell me if it's a) an ok saddle and b) is this about the going rate? I am not sure how me/my horse will take to western tack so I am definately looking for the 'cheap and cheerfull' end of the tack range- without compromising fit for the horse. Any advice please -thanks all |

My girlfriend rides in one and loves it. Plus they're really light. You can check out their website at { https://www.wintec.net.au} |

Posted on Sunday, May 14, 2000 - 3:02 am: Claire, I bought an A-Betta Ultra Light Cordura Saddle #1965 in the Chicks Discount Saddlery for $289.00 16" seat round skirt. This saddle has Quarter horse bars. I bought this while I had a custom saddle made. The saddle maker brought out 5 saddles to fit on my horse and the A-Betta fit the best. I still have this saddle to use for company. It is a comfortable saddle. The only thing it did not come with a back cinch which I had to have put on after I got it, but for $289.00 I got a good deal. Web address: www.chicksaddlery.com |

Posted on Monday, Aug 21, 2000 - 7:12 pm: I have an "Australian" type saddle, it is a "Stockman Bush Rider". That is the only wording or identification I could find on it. It was given to me and I was wondering if anyone knows the value, or where I can price one like it. It is in very good condition, and I was considering selling it to a friend, so I wanted to price it accordingly. Any info. much appriciated!!thanks Sam |

The $200 ones were no-name junk: too narrow for anything but a greyhound, lumpy panel stuffing, cardboardy leather, etc., etc. The good ones have broad panels, quality leather and workmanship and, if they fit your horse, are very secure in rough country, or on a young (or naughty) horse. Syd Hill is a good brand. I've seen lots of websites that feature Aussie saddles. Unfortunately, I don't remember any of the addresses. Search, search, search. Oh--there are usually a couple for sale on e-bay. Good luck. |
