You have to almost stop him completely to get the change and ask off your inside leg. He will not change in the rear at all if you turn before the corner and step out. He has been in professional training for 1 yr but not consistantly. Any suggestions? I have taken him out of training for the rest of the summer to give his mind a break and keep him from getting rattled. Also, this horse has no physical problems that would prevent him from doing his changes. |

So, I know he knows how to do them. I have also seen him absolutely refuse and get into quite a fight with said trainer. I have no way of knowing if the cues are the same, but since this trainer is the same one who can get the perfect change, I would think the cues are the same. I might also add that his start in life was as a dressage horse, being trained for the canter on the inside leg. He does not like dressage at all, so is doing hunters (and doing well). A h/j trainer is working him (or has been). |
