Discussion on DrOoping Ears | |

Posted on Thursday, Sep 16, 1999 - 5:46 am: Dear Dr OThis isn't a problem, just an observation but I would still appreciate people's thoughts - I don't think my horse's ears are screwed on properly!! When she is walking along and her brain is in neutral they flop forwards and backwards under their own momentum. She can prick them forward as well as the next person and they don't appear to be lop ears like you see in some thoroughbreds. They do fall sideways quite a bit if she is anxiously requesting something from me. I've also noticed that when she drinks they swing through a complete circle like something attached to a bicycle wheel. I took to studying her friends ears and they just jerk slightly when they swallow. I was thinking of contacting the manufacturer to see if fitting an extra washer and tightening thinks up a bit would fix the problem!!! |

Now she too has amazing control as she can swatt flies with them with amazing accuracy! When we team pen they call her "E-or The Donkey". I just tell them she uses them for balance like a tight rope walker! ;0)-E |

That describes Cara exactly - until you get on her and she sees open space. Her brain deserts her and warp drive takes over. Oh well, that's chestnut mares for you I suppose! |
