In high quality standardbred racehorses, do parties typically insure their broodmares and race horses for the full amount of their value? My understanding is no, but am seeking some confirmations from experienced horse gurus.

Finally, does anyone know of two or three highly qualified standardbred race horse appraisers? I need three done with a good deal of speed and would like to have a couple of names to call.

The philosophy I see most often is to insure the portion you cannot afford to loose and carry the rest of the risk yourself.
