I have a QH mare that I have an apportunity to sell. I have heard of problems arising from not having a contract. What would be advisable to enter in the contract? The proposed buyer would pay half now and the remainder in 2 months. Is this acceptable? Should I include in the contract all of her vices? I have already told this person and they are still interested.
Any help guiding me in the right direction would be appreciated!!!!

You shouldn't have to list all of the horses vices, habits, training or anything as long as you have it stated that the horse is being sold as is with any defects present or may subsequesntly appear and the buyer has inspected the horse and agrees that the horse is fit and suitable.

Make certain the buyer has insurance on the horse if they are paying him out!!

Encourage a prepurchase exam from a vet of their chosing.

Get your vet to make a complete printout of any work done on the horse and staple it to the contract.

Then run, don't walk to the bank :)
