Discussion on Follow-up on article "misrepresentation and defraud?" | |

Posted on Thursday, Dec 7, 2000 - 10:38 pm: In follow-up to the article I posted, I would like to say that I offered 1500.00 to the party I was buying the mare back from and they agreed. I now discover that she is pregnant! The boarders had an Arab stud on the premises and often remarked of the idea of "wouldn't it be great to have a Morab?" hint...hint....but I always stressed that I was not a breeder and that I had no intention of having her bred as there are too many unwanted horses and that I would rescue one of them before bringing another horse into the world. The idea of a foal may be great for many people, but I never wanted her bred! I got her back and am riding her and now I am faced with a unplanned-for foal! I'm finally comfortable with her again and don't really relish the idea of more expense and the time lost on riding. Added to that is that I am not a breeder and would end up keeping the foal although I would have to add to my existing stable to house another horse. I don't have papers and considering the previous situation, I don't think it will be smooth sailing to get them. It really upsets me that I would buy her back and that no one had the decency to tell me of her condition. I think there were many things going on that I'm not aware of and wonder what I can do to get some compensation for this situation. The mare has always been an easy-keeper, but I certainly would have given her added nutrients and special care if anyone had alerted me that she was bred! How do I approach this situation to get compensation and the papers? Help!! |

If you do allow her to term your aggrivations will be well rewarded, papers or not, with the first milky nosed foal kiss.... you will be hooked! If you don't get relief from them perhaps advertise to sell the unborn foal. Many people want to raise a foal that donot have a mare and a Morab even without papers has value. They might be willing to subsidise the vet costs. |
