Discussion on Buying a mare in foal

2 yrs ago I bought a mare at a Standardbred auction in foal to a certain stallion. Now he is a yearling and time to get him tattooed and DNA tested. Well he had his DNA test and failed. The sire he was proclaimed to be out of was not his sire. I did know what breeding farm and a call was made. The breeding farm did not seem to be to thrilled with our call. I did not think it was unreasonable to get a free breeding. They said fine but we would have to pay vet bills, board bills etc... We did not want that we wanted our mare just back in foal like we paid for. Well they did not want that. Since they get 9.50 a day for board, our counter offer was to bring the mare and colt back and get our money back plus a board bill for both at 9.50 a day for the 2 years they were here which would be around 7000.00. Needless to say they definitely did not want that. So they agreed to breeding the mare. Are we in the wrong wanting our mare in foal to the stud we bought her in foal too? Isn't there a responsibility for misrepresentation?

I would say they were lucky to get off so easy.
