MemberNew barn and horses are fed hay cubes not soaked. Since I wasn’t familiar, and about 30 horses were fed them, I wasn’t aware of possible choke episode. On 3/13/20, my 18 year old horse choked at PM feed. Vet called and couldn’t get it out. Two vets came back at 8 am, and after quite some time were able to finally remove cube. Fed horse antibiotics, pain meds and really soaked cubes. After 30 days, horse was having difficulty eating. Scoped throat, and proclaimed it to be the worse damage they’d witnessed. Decided to change to soaked senior complete feed, and he was able to eat it. After a couple of weeks noticed more weightloss. Finally on 6/1/20, had to put my nearly 19 year old down. Please soak your cubes!

KeymasterMy condolences bobsue, and I will be soaking my cubes from now on. Let me ask does your horse have any dental problems or does he eat particularly fast compared to the others?
