The appearance is characteristic with multiple hard, nonpainful cutaneous papules, nodules and plaques under the skin. Head, neck and chest are usually affected the most but involvement of the upper respiratory system occurs in some cases. These may have bleeding from the nose and difficult breathing. Early there may be a hive like appearance that resolves and the chronic form then occurs. As the lesions enlarge serum weeping and ulceration may occur.
