Dihydrostreptomycin is found labeled for horses usually in combination with penicillin. Dihydrostreptomycin is known to have a high number of resistant organisms to it and label dosages tend to be too little medication given too infrequently for therapeutic effect. Reputation for efficacy is probably from frequent use with self limiting viral upper respiratory infections.
