A potent diuretic used to treat peripheral and pulmonary edema. Also frequently used in racers to control post race bleeding in the lungs (EIPH).

Dehydration, electrolyte imbalances particularly low blood potassium (hypokalemia), kidney disease. Furosemide may potentiate nephrotoxicity of gentocin or other amonoglycosides. It may also change the response to muscle paralyzing drugs. Pregnancy
